Urban Aphrodite International's
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
From Sarah Alborn,
Head of Expressive Arts, Head of Drama, IB Tutor
British International School Shanghai (BISS)
"May I just congratulate yourself and the company on the performance – we were all incredibly impressed and the students’ found the experience incredibly rewarding. It’s an incredibly tricky text and I thought it was handled with complete confidence by both the actors and director and was certainly of the highest standard I have seen so far in
Shanghai."

ON STAGE:
Edward Albee's Woolf
Urban Aphrodite's production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf opened last Friday upstairs at Sasha's and phew, it's quite a harrowing ride. Mark Edwards and Natasha Portwood play an aging academic couple whose relationship is disintegrating under the weight of their alcoholism. The production is unabridged and hard going, but the acting is impressive, especially Portwood's turn as the damaged, spiteful Martha. There are more shows this Thursday-Saturday night. Curtain up 7:30pm and Sasha's is doing a pre-theater menu for 188 yuan. Photo by Scoop Anthony.
